  • AFRICAN PARTNERS: The African Computing and Telecommunications Summit 2004 was in Mauritius in Sept. 2004. The event aims to focus on "building partnerships to mainstream Africa's ICT sector," and will include specialised forums on African open source, African e-government and a regional workshop on standards for e-goverment security organised by the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
  • Online News Association's annual conference http://www.journalists.org/2004conference/ is November 12-13, 2004 in Hollywood. The Master of the Web Universe competition crowns a know-it-all of the online news industry. "We're pitting teams against each other for the best solutions to real-world scenarios. Will your ideas impress your peers and our judges? Will you win the competition and become a Master of the Web Universe?"
    Another innovation, students are being sought to cover the event and interview industry leaders in attendance. Plus, professionals are being recruited to spend a little time with a student, reviewing and guiding his or her coverage.
